Assessment Services
Our practice has over ten years of experience in providing forensic assessment across three main areas:
Family Assessment: Separating with children is never easy, and at times a comprehensive assessment assists in better understanding family dynamics and the children’s needs. Active Matter has written reports and given evidence in the Family Court, Federal Circuit Court, and Children’s Court, and we pride ourselves on delivering assessments that are sensitive, professional, and up-to-date with current research and clinical assessment methods.
Criminal Assessment: Facing criminal charges is a stressful prospect, and a pre-sentencing report can assist individuals and courts in understanding the mental health needs and rehabilitation prospects of offending individuals. Solicitors and individuals can request a report to be considered by Courts prior to sentencing. These include information about how a client's mental health may have influenced their offending behaviour, the client's degree of regret and remorse, and the likelihood of the client re-offending
Medico-legal Assessment: Medico-legal assessments are usually undertaken by individuals who have experienced physical and/or psychological injury and are seeking recognition for these injuries. A medico-legal report is usually requested by solicitors, and these assessments map out pre-injury functioning, as well as the distress and disability caused by the triggering event or circumstances.
